Golden Hour at Sedgwick County Park
The air was thick with that golden summer heat at Sedgwick County Park in Wichita, Kansas—the kind that makes the light linger just a little longer. These two laughed their way through every moment, weaving between blooming florals and quiet paths, before slipping away to the lake where the sky turned watercolor-soft. It was the kind of evening where time felt like it slowed down just for them.
The following weekend, we met again—this time at Old Cowtown Museum on a Saturday morning. Instead of sunset glow, we had crisp morning light and the charm of Wichita’s history as our backdrop. The contrast couldn’t have been more perfect: one part of their story painted in romance and stillness, the other in energy and heritage. Together, it feels like a full picture of who they are—joyful, grounded, and completely at ease with one another.

Sedgwick County Park is one of my favorite places for engagement, family and senior photos in Wichita because of the wide open fields, tree-lined paths, and glowing sunsets that seem to stretch on forever. On this particular night, the golden light wrapped around them in the dreamiest way, giving us everything from playful laughter to quiet, tender moments. As the sun dipped lower, we wandered down to the lake where the water mirrored the sky and gave us that soft, glowy backdrop that feels straight out of a painting.
The next weekend, we switched things up and met at Old Cowtown Museum on a Saturday morning. Instead of golden hour, we had the crisp freshness of morning light and the rustic charm of Wichita’s history all around us. Trading wide-open fields for weathered wood and brick, this second half of their session told a different side of their story—still full of joy, but with a touch of timeless character that made the whole experience unforgettable.

Their joy is the kind that spills over, and I left both days smiling just as much as they were.
