Meet Kiana | Garden Girls 2027 Senior Rep Team | Tisha Megan Photography
Sometimes the girls who say the least at first end up having the sweetest stories to tell.
And I have a feeling that is going to be true for Kiana, one of my Garden Girls 2027 Senior Rep Team girls!
Kiana is a senior at Maize High School, and I'm so excited that she decided to step outside of her comfort zone and say YES to this experience.
Meet Kiana
Kiana grew up in southwest Kansas before moving to Wichita in 2023.
Moving to a new place can be a big adjustment, especially when you're leaving behind the people and community you've known for most of your life.
And Kiana describes herself as quiet and shy, which means meeting new people doesn't always come naturally to her.
But that's actually one of the reasons I'm so excited she's a Garden Girl.
Because sometimes the best things happen when we say yes to something that feels just a little outside of our comfort zone.
Kiana would love to get to know more girls, meet new people, and hopefully make some new local friends.
And I hope she does exactly that.
A Girl Who Loves Working With Kids
One thing I immediately loved learning about Kiana is that she works after school at Northridge Academy, where she gets to work with young kids.
And she LOVES it.
There is something really special about someone who genuinely enjoys being around kids and finds joy in helping and spending time with them.
Kiana is also the oldest of three, so I have a feeling that being the big sister has probably given her plenty of experience looking out for others.
Between being the oldest sibling and working with kids after school, she clearly has a caring side that I think will be such a beautiful part of her senior story.
Why Kiana Wanted to Be a Garden Girl
When I asked Kiana why she wanted to be part of the Garden Girls, she said she wanted:
“To experience my senior year with girls going through the same experiences as me, and to learn more about posing.”
And I love that.
Because senior year can feel like such a strange season.
You're excited about what's next, but you're also still figuring out where you fit right now.
You're watching friendships change.
You're thinking about graduation.
You're making decisions about the future.
And sometimes, you just want people around you who understand exactly what you're going through.
That's one of the things I hope the Garden Girls can provide.
A place to meet new people.
A place to make friends.
A place to laugh and have fun.
A place where you don't have to already know everyone to belong.
And yes, Kiana, we are absolutely going to work on those posing skills! 😉
A Few of Kiana's Favorites
When she's not working with kids or hanging out with friends, Kiana enjoys a good Target trip, checking out Uptown, and rocking Nike.
And honestly, I think there are probably going to be plenty of conversations about favorite places to shop and what everyone is currently obsessed with once these girls start spending time together.
That's part of the fun.
Looking Forward to Graduating Early
When I asked Kiana what she's most looking forward to during her senior year, her answer was:
Graduating early!
And I can't blame her. 😂
But before that finish line arrives, I hope she takes the time to really experience this season.
I hope she lets herself make new friendships.
I hope she says yes to opportunities that might normally feel a little scary.
I hope she realizes that being quiet doesn't mean you don't have something valuable to bring to a group.
And I hope she looks back at her senior year and realizes she were braver than she thought she was.
Why I'm Excited to Have Kiana as a Garden Girl
As a Wichita senior photographer, I don't want to just photograph the loudest, most outgoing version of a senior.
I want to photograph the real person.
The quiet girls.
The funny girls.
The athletic girls.
The creative girls.
The girls who are still figuring themselves out.
The girls who are ready to take on the world.
There is room for all of them.
And Kiana's story is a beautiful reminder that senior portraits aren't just about getting dressed up and taking pictures.
They're about documenting who you are in this exact season.
A girl who grew up in southwest Kansas.
A big sister.
A young woman who loves working with kids.
A senior who moved to Wichita and is ready to build a community of her own.
And a girl who decided to say yes to something new.
Kiana, I am SO excited you're part of the Garden Girls 2027 Senior Rep Team!
I hope this experience gives you exactly what you're hoping for—new friendships, new confidence, lots of laughter, and memories that make you smile long after graduation.
And I can't wait to see you come out of your shell a little bit along the way. 🩵
Welcome to the Garden Girls, Kiana!
