Meet Mackenzie | Garden Girls 2027 Senior Rep Team | Tisha Megan Photography
One of the things I love most about senior year is watching these girls step into who they are becoming.
They've spent years being students, teammates, daughters, sisters, and friends—and suddenly they're entering a season where they get to start becoming leaders, too.
That is something I am especially excited to watch with Mackenzie, one of my Garden Girls 2027 Senior Rep Team girls!
Mackenzie is a senior at Circle High School, and she is ready to make this year count.
Meet Mackenzie
Mackenzie is an athlete through and through.
She plays volleyball, basketball, and throws in track, so she's no stranger to hard work, teamwork, competition, and showing up even when things get tough.
She is also passionate about her academics, which tells me that she isn't just committed to being a great athlete—she cares about putting in the work in every area of her life.
When she's not busy with sports or school, Mackenzie loves hanging out with her friends and swimming.
And if you need to find her for a little shopping or a coffee run, you might have some luck at Target, the mall, or Starbucks. 😂
She also describes herself as funny and talkative once she gets to know you—which I think means we just need to get past that first little bit of awkwardness and then we'll be just fine!
Why Mackenzie Wanted to Be a Garden Girl
When I asked Mackenzie why she wanted to be part of the Garden Girls, her answer was pretty simple:
Her mom wanted her to do it, and she thought it would be cool.
And honestly?
I love that.
Sometimes you don't have to have a huge, profound reason to say yes to something new.
Sometimes you just think, That could be fun.
So you say yes.
And then you find out where that yes takes you.
I hope that's exactly what happens for Mackenzie this year.
I hope she meets girls she wouldn't have otherwise known.
I hope she makes memories she didn't expect to make.
I hope she discovers something new about herself.
And I hope she has a LOT of fun along the way.
Stepping Into Leadership
When I asked Mackenzie what she is most looking forward to about her senior year, her answer really stood out:
Being a leader on all of her sports teams.
There is something so cool about reaching the point in your athletic career where you aren't just looking to the older girls anymore.
Suddenly, you are the older girl.
You're the one younger athletes are watching.
You're the one who can encourage someone when they're having a hard day.
You're the one who knows what it's like to be nervous before a game.
You're the one who can remind your teammates that they belong there.
Leadership isn't always about being the loudest person in the room.
Sometimes it's simply about being the person who shows up, works hard, encourages others, and sets the tone.
And I have a feeling Mackenzie is going to grow a lot in that role this year.
Why I'm Excited to Have Mackenzie as a Garden Girl
As a Wichita senior photographer, one of my favorite parts of this job is getting to know the person behind the senior portrait.
I don't want your senior pictures to look like everyone else's.
I want them to feel like you.
For Mackenzie, that means capturing the athlete, the student, the friend, the funny girl, the teammate, and the senior who is stepping into a new season of leadership.
It means photographs that remind her not only of what she looked like during senior year, but of who she was becoming.
And I think that is one of the coolest things about senior photography.
We get to freeze a little piece of this in-between season before everything changes.
Mackenzie, I am SO excited you're part of the Garden Girls 2027 Senior Rep Team!
I can't wait to watch you step into leadership, make memories with your teammates and friends, and experience everything this final year of high school has to offer.
Here's to volleyball, basketball, track, swimming, Target runs, Starbucks, lots of laughs, and one very exciting senior year!
Welcome to the Garden Girls, Mackenzie! 🩵
