The Tassels Have Turned | Celebrating Wichita's Class of 2026
Every year, graduation season arrives with a mix of excitement, anticipation, and a little bit of nostalgia.
For the seniors I photographed this spring, the cap and gown sessions marked more than the end of high school. They represented years of hard work, growth, friendships, lessons learned, and dreams for the future.
As a Wichita Kansas senior photographer, one of my favorite parts of graduation season is getting to pause and celebrate this milestone with each senior before they step into their next chapter.
This year's Class of 2026 included seniors from Bishop Carroll High School, Goddard High School, Derby High School, Wichita East High School, and Maize High School. While each student's story is unique, they all share something in common: they are standing on the edge of something new.
There is something special about photographing seniors in their cap and gown. These sessions feel different from traditional senior portraits. The pressure of college applications, final exams, and graduation preparations begins to fade, and what remains is a moment to reflect on how far they've come.
As I looked through these images, I was reminded that senior photography is about so much more than beautiful portraits. It's about preserving a season that passes quickly. Years from now, these photos will serve as a reminder of who they were, what they accomplished, and the excitement they felt stepping into adulthood.
To the Class of 2026: congratulations. Whether your next step includes college, trade school, military service, a new job, or an entirely different path, I hope you carry confidence into whatever comes next. The future is full of possibilities, and this is only the beginning.
